  • HiOA - Getting Registered in Norway
    Police The Police will send you the Registration Certificate by post once it is has been processed NON EU EEA citizens You are obliged to have an appointment with the police to register your arrival Please do not book this appointment with the police yourself HiOA will do this for you and contact you with details at the beginning of the semester This applies to students at both Kjeller and Pilestredet Campus The visiting address for students at Pilestredet Campus is Oslo Police District Foreigner section Schweigaardsgate 15 B Mon to Fri 08 00 12 00 appointment required The visiting address for students at Kjeller Campus is Nedre Romerike Police Foreign Section Jonas Lies gate 20 Lillestrøm Open Mon to Fri 08 00 15 30 Please bring your residence permit letter from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration UDI and your passport Students living in Oslo must enter the International Office s address when asked for a Norwegian address and we will hand out the residence permit at our office Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences HiOA The International Office New International Student Autumn 15 Postal Address PO Box 4 St Olavs Plass N 0130 Oslo Norway The residence card will be sent to you by post approximately ten working days after your appointment The card which is the shape and size of a credit card is your proof that you have a residence permit in Norway After you have received the residence permit card you can apply for a Norwegian ID number For students who did not apply for a residence permit prior to arrival You must start the process immediately by applying to UDI and book an appointment Please bring the following documents to the Police Certified copy of the Admission Letter from HiOA Documentation of financial maintenance subsistence Housing contract Copy of passport Receipt of paid processing fee of NOK 2500 National Population Register You must register in the National Population Register if you are here for more than six months This will entitle you to a Norwegian Identity Number issued 4 6 weeks after you have registered To register please bring the following to the Service Centre for Foreign Workers Residence Card Notification of move to Norway from abroad form that you received from the Police Copy of your HiOA admission letter Passport The centre is located in Schweigaardsgate 17 The building bears the name Skatt Øst If you have a part time job this is also the place to get a tax card Bring along your work contract When you have received your Norwegian ID number this needs to be registered in the HiOA administration system Please do this by going to the Information Centre at your faculty Bank Account You need a passport and a Norwegian ID number to open a bank account You can also open a bank account based on a D number if you are in Norway less than six months This requires that the bank of your choice is

    Train at the very end of the arrival hall to your right Tickets are available from the ticket vending machines or the ticket desks Owners of a credit card can swipe the card through the machines at the entrance to the Airport Express train station You may also take a regional or local train to Oslo Central Station For information on these trains and ticket prices see the website of the public transport company Ruter Students at Kjeller Campus are recommended to take the Airport Express Train from Oslo Airport to Lillestrøm Train Station ca 12 minutes ride NOK 65 for the student discount Alternatively you may take a regional or local train to Lillestrøm ca 15 25 minutes ride For information on these trains and ticket prices see the website of the public transport company Ruter From Lillestrøm Bus Terminal take the bus 401 direction Kjeller or 842 direction Skedsmokorset and get off at Forskningsparken From there it is about an 8 minutes walk to Kjeller Campus in Kunnskapsveien 55 Get the timetables maps for your bus trip at Ruter Sandefjord Airport Torp Many low cost airlines fly to Torp a smaller airport situated ca 140 km south west of Oslo From Torp take the shuttle bus Torp Expressen to Oslo Central Bus Station for NOK 210 ca 2 hours Tickets can be bought on the bus with Norwegian cash or credit card Master Visa or Diners or online Moss Airport Rygge This is a smaller airport frequented by some of the low cost airlines It is situated 60 km south east of Oslo Take the shuttle bus Rygge Expressen to get to Oslo Bus Terminal for NOK 150 ca 1 hour Tickets can be bought on the bus with Norwegian cash or a valid credit card Visa MasterCard Diners or AmEx Arrival by bus train or ferry Bus All international buses stop at Oslo Central Bus Station situated in the centre of Oslo next to Oslo Central Station train station Train Oslo and Lillestrøm can be reached by train from Copenhagen via Sweden See NSB for details Ferry You can reach Oslo by ferry from Denmark and Germany Ferry companies Color Line ferry terminal at Hjortneskaia Stena Line ferry terminal at Akershusstranda 31 DFDS ferry terminal at Akershusstranda 31 Take public transport into the city centre to the central station Sentralstasjon Jernbanestasjon Get to your student apartment HiOA In order to avoid booking a hotel room before moving into your student apartment we recommend that you plan your journey to Norway so that you arrive during SiO s opening hours From the train station or bus terminal in Oslo Lillestrøm get to the place where you are going to collect your key for your apartment with the help of Ruter s travel planner SiO has different offices for individual student villages In advance check with SiO where to collect your key and how to get there In addition you may also use Google maps Print out your time
