    broad interdisciplinary introduction to issues of development strategies politics governance environment and social development as well as an introduction to Nicaraguan and regional culture and society The course includes 10 weeks in León Nicaragua In addition there are self study periods before and after with the submission of written assignments In total this is a 20 weeks course Target group Development Studies 2 is intended for students who wish to include development studies as part of their bachelor s degree and or professionals teachers nurses journalists engineers etc and others who seek further education in international development and multicultural issues Excerpts from Learning outcome descriptors Students should acquire knowledge in the application and experiences of various development strategies acquire an understanding of and ability to apply concepts such as poverty governance inequality power participation population environmental issues and development research Students should also be able to carry out and present own research carry through a well reflected problem oriented analysis of development issues and to use critical analysis in their work Student work load This course includes 10 12 weeks in Nicaragua with lectures and other activities including 3 weeks of field work Additionally there is 6 weeks of self studies with one course work requirement before coming to Nicaragua and 5 weeks after leaving the country also with examination Combinations Read about possible study combinations for Development Studies 2 This course can be included as part of a Cachelor s degree and is well suitable as a continuation to Global Forståelse 1 at HiOA or Development Studies 1 in Vietnam This course is equivalent to Global Forståelse 2 Application and admission Application deadline Continous given the course is not full Prerequisites 30 ECTS development studies or 60 ECTS in social sciences This study builds on Development Studies 1 Global
