  • HiOA - Quota Scheme
    and the selected countries and thus contribute to internationalisation of higher education at Norwegian institutions Coverage The Quota Scheme funding covers student housing and basic living expenses for one person during the study period The funding is given as part loan part grant by the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund After completing the programme and returning to the student s home country the loan portion is converted to a scholarship If residence is taken in Norway within ten years after termination of studies the scholarship is converted back to a loan and must be repaid Who can apply Applicants from developing countries and countries in the Western Balkans Eastern Europe and in Central Asia are eligible to apply for Quota Scheme funding Applicants who are living in a country other than their country of citizenship either temporarily or permanently cannot apply The application must be sent from the candidate s home country See list of countries here Institutional cooperation The Quota Scheme will only enrol students from institutions which have collaboration agreements with Norwegian universities or university colleges Only in very special cases will free movers be considered HiOA will only consider applicants from institutions with which there is a

    Always choose a single room when applying We also recommend choosing a furnished room We recommend you choose the cheaper housing options even if it often appears that there are no available rooms in the relevant student house When it comes to location students at Kjeller Campus should choose Åråsen Student House the only accommodation option located at Kjeller Students at Pilestredet Campus can choose between the rest of the student houses as they are all located in the Oslo area See our student housing map for more detailed locations In the application I m asked to fill in my Norwegian ID number what should I write You simply fill in your date of birth in the format DDMMYY if you do not have a Norwegian ID number Am I guaranteed housing through SiO As an international student that is exchange students and students accepted to one of our Master s Degree programmes taught in English you are in principle guaranteed a single room if you followed the instructions above However as Oslo receives more and more international students we cannot guarantee that all of you will receive an offer of accommodation HiOA will do everything possible to ensure that all our international students are assigned accommodation through SiO My application was rejected because of my age can you help me There is no age limit for international students applying for accommodation through SiO Please send an e mail to international hioa no and we ll contact SiO on your behalf What does student housing cost Monthly rental prices start from approximately 3000 NOK The different prices are always shown in the application and in SiOs price list For most student rooms electricity is not included in the rent In addition to monthly rental and the electricity bill you have to pay a deposit equivalent to 2 months rent The deposit will be returned to you when you move out if you comply to SiOs contract terms Always pay your rent on time Late payments will generate heavy administration fees Contact SiO for more details about costs When can I expect to get a room Rooms are allocated before your arrival to Norway so make sure you have received and confirmed you housing contract before travelling to Norway The contract will be sent to you by email and must be signed on SiOs My Page to be valid If you haven t received an answer from SiO three weeks after the application deadline please send an e mail to international hioa no and we ll contact SiO on your behalf What is SiOs My Page And how do I log in to and use it SiOs My Page is SiOs online portal You register using the Personal Identity Number sent to you by SiO when your application was first registered You can find more information and instructions on SiOs website When do I pay the deposit You ll need to pay a deposit when signing the contract on SiOs My

    If your current permit expires before you apply you cannot leave Norway even for shorter trips until the permit has been renewed How to Apply Please register an application for renewal of residence permit at least 1 month before the residence permit expires You can apply online for renewal here If you have received an F code by sms or e mail you can fastrack the renewal of your residence permit If you have questions about F code please contact UDI for further details HiOA organisation number 997 058 925 E mail address international hioa no At the same time as you renew your residence permit you book an appointment with the police to submit the following supporting documents Copy of valid passport A progress report on your studies from HiOA Order a progress report recommendation letter here This report includes a statement from the educational institution about whether part time work will delay your study progress and if relevant how many hours per week the institution feels that you can work without your studies being affected The progress report will be written when all exams for the semester is registered in our database You will receive an e mail when it is ready to be collected Documentation that you have sufficient funds to support yourself for the whole period covered by the permit if granted Delayed in your studies For students who are delayed in their studies and need to apply for an extension of their residence permit the progression report will be written when all the exams for the semester are registered June July if your permit expires in August or January if your permit expires in February You must also contact your faculty department in order to apply for extension of your study right Fieldwork If you
