    considering that of the more than 100 proposals received the core program allowed for only 5 keynote lectures and 21 symposia The conference presented evidence based information on how to prevent injuries and other health problems in sport This includes a multidisciplinary perspective on epidemiology risk factors pathophysiology and injury mechanisms The final programme presented an amazing array of state of the art lectures covering a wide range of topics featuring as many as 94 invited speakers DOWNLOAD THE FINAL PROGRAMME Memories from Tromsø 2008 and Oslo 2005 You can enjoy many of the excellent presentations from the first two World Congresses on Sports Injury Prevention held in Norway Oslo 2005 and Tromsø 2008 The 2nd World Congress on Sports Injury Prevention in Tromsø Norway followed the format of the successful 2005 congress with a multidisciplinary perspective on sports injury prevention for different sports and different injury types The exciting three day program included keynote lectures symposia and workshop More than 700 participants from 55 countries attended the Second World Congress on Sports Injury Prevention in the Land of the Midnight Sun at the end of June In addition a three day pre congress satellite course was also arranged right before the World Congress on Sports Injury Prevention The Advanced Team Physician Course in the Lofoten that attracted 80 participants The scientific program of the congress included 5 keynote lectures 19 symposia with 127 lectures 21 workshops and over 180 presentations and posters of scientific reports from world leading sports medicine experts At the gala dinner in Tromsø the President of the IOC Medical Commission Professor Arne Ljungquist announced that the IOC now will take over this congress after the founders at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center The 1st World Congress on Sports Injury Prevention was held at the

    Sport Sciences with base funding from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Culture the Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee Confederation of Sport the International Olympic Committee the South Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority and Norsk Tipping AS In 2009 the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center was inaugurated as a FIFA Medical Center of Excellence In the same year the center was also selected as an IOC Research Center for Prevention of Injury and Protection of Athlete Health one of four such centers around the world Kleivstua 2013 Other staff As a professor in epidemiology and biostatistics professor dr philos Ingar Holme plays a central role at the center In his position as adjunct professor he serves as a statistical supervisor and statistician for many of the projects In addition professor dr med Lars Nordsletten has been engaged in the center s activities as an adjunct professor from August 2006 to strengthen our research on skiing injuries His position is financed by FIS and djo who also finance the establishment of the FIS Injury Surveillance System This means that the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center has four researchers at the senior professor level The Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center has 15 20
